The Mighty Power of God –

BYJ.E.SWIFT

THERE was a time when the servants of God had power with Him, and prevailed. In the first century, when the disciples of Jesus prayed, the earth trembled (Acts 4 : 31), and the Holy Spirit, like a flaming tongue of fire, rested upon them. Acts 2:3. When they preached a risen Saviour, men’s hard hearts melted, and they inquired, “Men and brethren, what shall we do ?” Acts 2:37.

There was a time when those who were diseased sought unto the Mighty Healer, instead of sending for the vender of pills and powders; and when a humble fisherman could stand by the side of the lifeless form and say, “Tabitha, arise,” and the dead would live again. Acts 9:40.

These things were common once; why not now ? Where does the Bible tell us that they must cease to be? —Nowhere.   On the contrary. Jesus tells us that “these signs shall follow them that believe.” He says, “In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up* (loose the hold of) serpents; and if they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them.” Mark 16:17-18.

Again: “He that believeth on Me (the Word of God), the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do, because I go unto My Father . . . !”   John 14:12

These promises are sure to them that believe. Brethren, the trouble with many of us is that we do not have faith. We ought to be thankful that God in his infinite mercy has bestowed upon us as a people some of the precious gifts of his Spirit; but He is willing to bestow upon us all the gifts of His Spirit just as soon as we place ourselves in a position where He can consistently do so.      Let us search our hearts in the light of His Word and the testimonies of His Spirit, and let us return unto God, and see if He will not return unto us. The work is fast closing up. Soon the night cometh, wherein no man can work. We mean to be whole-hearted sometime; why not now ?

The Promise of His Spirit . . . Received through simple faith !

Pentecost2a     “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you, but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power* (dunamis – miraculous, miracle, abundance, ability, strength, possible, to be able) from on high !”   Luke 24:49 & ref: Galatians 3:14

Ask, and it shall be given you; Seek, and ye shall find; Knock, and it shall be
opened unto you; for every-one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth;
and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Matthew 7:7.

How many who ask a blessing of the Lord would be surprised should they receive their request. Of what is this want of expectation (lack of faith) that our prayers will be answered, a proof? Continue reading

The Word of your Salvation ?

ascension   “For our Glad Tidings came not unto you in word only, but also in power* (miraculous strength, abundance, wonderful, might), and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake . . . !”       I Thessalonians 1:5

So many today, need to understand that there is Living (Life-giving) power in the Word of God !

Not like the new age version of “name it and claim it.” For there is one most vital difference between the True and the counterfeit.   And that is . . . Our faith is based upon the Word of the Living God ! Continue reading

The Cost of the Anointing ?

A powerful message by David Wilkerson, the former pastor of Times Square Church, NYC, and author of “The Cross and the Switchblade.” It is this consecration of soul and body, that we must seek individually, as well as on behalf of those who lead the congregation of the Lord Jesus Christ (Adoni Yehushua ha Moshiac) . . .

“If every man who has entered the ministry depended upon the Lord and not upon self, the power of God would attend the efforts of His servants, and great good would be accomplished. Those who labor in Word and doctrine, must be men who search the Scriptures daily, who pray earnestly and constantly for Divine enlightenment, and who receive it when it does come because they have the heavenly Anointing. If the ministers would individually hang their helpless souls upon Christ, there would be much more moisture (Living Water) in their discourses . . . !”

Pentecost and the Coming Crisis !

” It is impossible to give any idea of the experience of the people of God who shall be alive upon the earth when celestial glory and a repetition of the persecutions of the past are blended. They will walk in the Light proceeding from the throne of God (by faith they have entered in the holiest of all) . . .  And Satan, surrounded by evil angels and claiming to be God, will work miracles of all kinds, to deceive, if possible, the very elect.

God’s people will not find their safety in the working of miracles; for Satan will counterfeit the miracles that will be wrought. God’s tried and tested people will find their power in the Sign spoken of in Exodus 31:12-18. They are to take their stand on the Living Word, “It is written.” This is the only foundation upon which they can stand securely. Those who have broken their Covenant with God will in that day be without God and without hope.

The Faithfulness of Jesus !

A powerful message revealing the love of the LORD for each of us, and the reality and true power of His Promises on our behalf ! Do we really believe this final message of love and mercy, which is to be given to the whole world before our Lord and Saviour’s return? Have we taken hold of the garments and righteousness of Christ for ourselves by faith? And have we yet truly believed unto Salvation ?

“And Jesus (Yehushua) saith unto them, Believe ye that I Am able to do this? And they said unto Him, Yea, Lord (Sovereign King). Then touched He their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you . . . !”     Matthew 9:27-29
