Our Victory in Christ Jesus Guaranteed !

“Therefore . . . being now justified* be faith, we have Peace with God (John 14:27) through our Lord Jesus Christ !”   Romans 4:20-25 and 5:1

“What is justification* (innocence, holiness, righteousness) by faith?   It is the work of God in laying the glory of man in the dust (I Corinthians 1:29-31), and doing for man that which it is not in his power to do for himself. When men see their own nothingness, then they are prepared to be clothed with the righteousness of Christ !”

Chosen in Him . . . ?

ascension     There has been one promise of Scripture which the Lord Jesus Christ has been bringing to my remembrance repeatedly over the last few months. It is found in John 8:31-32, where He tells us . . . “You shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free !”

And then I remember Christ’s prayer in the garden, when He cries to our Father on our behalf, and says . . . “Sanctify them through Thy Truth, Yea, Thy Word is Truth !”     John 17:17

In the original greek of the text, the word “Truth” literally means Verity, (verily so) !

So what Christ Jesus is really promising to each of us, is that we shall know the Truth, and the Truth (the unfailing verity of His Word) shall make us free . . . “For whom the Son makes free, shall be free indeed !”
John 8:33-36

Reclaiming hallowed ground ?

“For thus saith the LORD (Yehuwah) to the men of Judah and Jerusalem . . . . Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns (the Seed – Luke 8:1-11). Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your hearts . . . !”   Jeremiah 4:3-4

“Sow to yourselves in righteousness (by faith), reap in mercy . . . . Break up your fallow ground, for it is Time
to seek the LORD, till He come and Rain righteousness upon you !”   Hosea 10:12

“For as He which hath called you is Holy . . . so be ye holy in all manner of conversation (your lives). Because it is written . . . . Be ye holy, for I Am Holy !”   I Peter 1:13-16

This message was given in a series at the Chestatee 7th Day Adventist Church, on deliverance, freedom and victory in Christ. Now, more than ever before, the LORD desires each of us to take hold of His unfailing promises by faith, and to live and walk in that Victory which our Saviour and Sovereign King, has won for each of our lives !

To Set the Captives Free !

“Thus saith the LORD (Yehuwah) . . . In an acceptable time* have I heard thee, and in the day of Salvation* (Yeshua) have I helped thee . . . . That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth! and to them that are yet still in darkness, Shew yourselves ! . . . . For I will contend with him, that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children !” Isaiah 49:8-25, Luke 4:18 & II Corinthians 6:2

This is the opening message given in a series on Freedom, and Victory in Christ, in which Eric Wilson shares some of the common snares of the devil which are used to trap, and hold God’s children in bondage to sin. The 2nd message reveals the Biblical principles of reclaiming the ground of one’s life for Christ. and the 3rd and final message is a question and answer on the Spiritual Dangers of martial arts & Eastern Mysticism.

Jesus has not changed. With Him there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning; He is the same yesterday, Today, and forever. He still loves and pities the erring, seeking to draw them to Himself, that He may give them Divine (supernatural) aid. He knows that a demon power is struggling for the control of every soul striving for the mastery (victory) . . . .   But Jesus came to break the power of Satan, and to set the captives free. He will provide strength from above, that we may see and resist the temptations of the enemy . . . ”

Man’s first temptation & the Victory of Christ !

Christ's victory 2     “For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities (weaknesses); but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin . . . !”     Hebrews 4:15 & 2:17 & Romans 8:2-3

After His baptism, the Son of God entered the dreary wilderness, there to be tempted by the devil . . . . For forty days He ate and drank nothing . . . . He realized the power of appetite upon man; and in behalf of sinful man, He bore the closest test possible upon that point.   Here a victory was gained which few can appreciate. The controlling power of depraved appetite, and the grievous sin of indulging it, can only be understood by the length of the fast which our Saviour endured that He might break its power . . . !

Intemperance (self-indulgence) lies at the foundation of all the moral evils known to man. Christ began the work of Redemption just where the ruin began. The fall of our first parents was caused by the indulgence of appetite. In redemption, the denial of appetite is the first work of Christ. What amazing love has Christ manifested in coming into the world to bear our sins and infirmities, and to tread the path of suffering, that He might show us by His Life of spotless merit how we should walk, and overcome as He had overcome !”

“For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The Just shall live by faith . . . !”     Romans 1:17

And “this I say then . . . . Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lusts (carnal desires) of the flesh !”   Galatians 5:16

The Righteousness of God – how It is obtained ?

Abraham's prayer     “Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted unto him for (as) righteousness . . . Know ye therefore, that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham !”   “And if children, then heirs . . . heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ . . . !”   Galatians 3:6-7 & Romans 8:17

Righteousness is the “state of him who is as he ought to be,… integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness,
correctness of thinking, feeling, and acting” (Thayer’s Greek Lexicon). This is a high standard to live up to. Paul calls it something we hope for. He wrote, “For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith” (Galatians 5:5).

We can hope to have righteousness, but it only comes by faith.

Righteousness is the state of being pure; of thinking, feeling and acting correctly. Jesus put it this way, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48). This is a seemingly unreachable goal. How can you be as perfect as our Father in heaven? The Bible tells us, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags…” (Isaiah 64:6). There must be something more to this picture . . . ?

Sin Shall Not Have Dominion . . . !

sin no dominion     “Who gave Himself in exchange for us, so that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a people, zealous of good works . . . !”   Titus 2:11-14 & Ephesians 5:26

DEAR BROTHER, –
In compliance with your request, and my promise, I will now endeavor, in the fear of God, and under sense of my accountableness to Him, to give you my views in full, respecting the points embraced in the questions which you proposed to me – Does God propose, through Christ Jesus, to grant unto all men deliverance, freedom, and Victory over every sin they are willing to surrender and yield to Him ?     And did JESUS really come “to save us from our sins?” Matthew 1:21,  as the Holy Scriptures assure us throughout  both Old and New Testaments ?

It is my prayer, that God will enable others, as He has me, to say, “Behold God is my Salvation, I will trust and not be afraid, for the LORD Jehovah is my Strength and my Song, He also is become my Salvation.” And thus, “may they with joy draw water out of the Wells of Salvation, and say, praise the LORD !” Isaiah 12:1-6 & John 4:7-14 & 7:37-39

And may “the redeemed of the LORD return and come with singing unto Zion, and everlasting joy be upon their heads; and may they obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and mourning flee away” (Isaiah 51:11). Then shall the “joy of the Lord be our strength” (Nehemiah 8:10).      – Brother Charles Fitch.

He is More than Able !

There is Help for the Tempted !

In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.

There is no warfare between Satan and his agents, between fallen angels and those who have yielded themselves to evil. Both possess the same attributes; both, through sin, are evil. But between Christ’s followers and the powers of darkness there is an unwearied conflict, which is to have no end till Christ shall come the second time without sin unto salvation, to destroy him who has destroyed so many souls through his deceptive power.
