evolution vs. God ?

“Knowing this first . . . that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking (living) after their own lusts (carnal desires), and saying . . . Where is the promise of His coming?  for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
But this they willingly are ignorant of . . . . that by the Word of God the heavens were of old . . . !”   II Peter 3:3-11

The Victory which is Ours in Christ !

bethesda“But none of the ransomed ever knew
How deep were the waters crossed,
Nor how dark was the night that the (our) Lord passed
     through . . .
Ere He found His sheep that was lost.
Far out in the desert He heard its cry–
Fainting and helpless, and ready to die . . .”

More than Conquerors through Christ Jesus !

“And they overcame him (the dragon) by the blood of the Lamb, and by the Word of their testimony . . . and they loved not their own lives even unto death !”
Revelation 12:10-11

“Like the twelve apostles, the seventy disciples whom Christ sent forth later received supernatural endowments as a seal of their mission (a mark, a sign of the power and authority with which they had been vested – Luke 9:1-6) .

When their work was completed, they returned with joy, saying, “Lord (Sovereign, King), even the devils are subject unto us through Thy name !” Jesus answered, “Why are you surprised, for I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.”     Luke 10:17-18  and  Revelation 12:7-10.

Henceforth Christ’s followers are to look upon Satan as a conquered foe. Upon the cross, Jesus was to gain the victory for them; and that victory He desired them (desires us) to accept as their (our) own. “Behold,” He said, “I give unto you ___________ (your name) power* to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy . . . and nothing shall by any means hurt you !”
Luke 10:19 and 9:1-6 and Mark 16:15-20

The omnipotent power of the Holy Spirit . . . the Words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are Life ! . . . (John 6:63 & 14:10-11) is the defense of every contrite soul. No one who in penitence and faith has claimed His protection will Christ permit to pass under the enemy’s power.

“The LORD is nigh* (near, allied, of kin, kinsman, ready, at hand) unto them that are of a broken heart, and He saveth* (to open wide, set free, to defend, succor, to deliver, rescue, to give victory) such as be of a contrite spirit (mind) . . . !”
Psalm 34:18

“Plead my cause, O LORD (Jehovah, Yehuwah), with them that strive with me . . . fight against them that fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler (sword), and stand up for mine help. Draw out also Thy spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me; Say unto my soul . . . I Am thy Salvation !”
Psalm 35:1-3

“O Lord (Adoni – Sovereign, King), open Thou my lips, and my mouth shall shew forth Thy praise . . . For Thou desirest not sacrifice else would I give it: Thou delightest not in burnt offering (Hebrews 10:4-7). For the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: yea, a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise . . .

Do good in Thy good pleasure unto Zion, yea, build Thou the walls of Jerusalem (Daniel 9:19 and Revelation 21:12-17). For then shalt Thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, yea, with burnt offering and whole burnt offerings. Then shall they offer bullocks (selfishness, pride – bull-headed) upon Thine altar . . .”
Psalm 51:15-19

“For thus saith the High and Lofty One that inhabiteth eternity . . . Whose name is holy; I dwell in the high (elevated, most) and holy (sacred, an Angel, a saint, sanctuary) place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit (mind) . . . To revive the spirit of the humble* (Matthew 11:28-30 and John 8:28), and to revive (to quicken, to recover, to restore Life in) the heart of the contrite ones !” Isaiah 57:15

It is true that Satan is a powerful being; but, thank God, we have a Mighty Saviour, Who cast out the evil one from heaven. Satan is pleased when we magnify his power. Why not talk of Jesus? Why not magnify His power and His love?

rainbow 2a     The rainbow of promise encircling the throne on high is an everlasting testimony that “God so loved this world, that He gave up His Only-Begotten Son . . . that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting Life !” John 3:16. It testifies to the universe that God will never forsake His children in the struggle with evil. It is an assurance to us of strength and protection as long as the throne itself shall endure. –

“And they overcame him (the dragon) by the blood of the Lamb, and by the Word of their testimony . . . and they loved not their own lives even unto death !”
Revelation 12:10-11

“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession* (to profess, to speak aloud) is made unto Salvation* (deliverance, rescue, freedom, healing and restoration) …For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on Him (The Word of God) shall not be put to shame . . . !”
Romans 10:10-11

The Joy of Our Lord – the Ninty and Nine

The_Good_Shepherd_and_The_Cloudy_SkyThere were ninety and nine that safely lay
In the shelter of the fold,

But one was out on the hills away,
Far, far from the gates of gold–
Away on the mountains wild and bare,
Away from the tender Shepherd’s care.

“Lord, Thou hast here Thy ninety and nine;
Are they not enough for Thee ?”
But the Shepherd made answer . . . “One of Mine
Has wandered away from Me,

And although the road be rough and steep,
I go to the desert to find My sheep.”

But none of the ransomed ever knew
How deep were the waters crossed,
Nor how dark was the night that the Lord passed
through . . .
Ere He found His sheep that was lost.

Far out in the desert He heard its cry–
Fainting and helpless, and ready to die.

Lord, whence are these blood drops all the way
That mark out the mountain’s track ?”

“They were shed for one who had gone astray,
Ere the Shepherd could bring him back.”

“Lord, why are Thy hands so rent and torn ?”
“They were pierced tonight by many a thorn.”

But all through the mountains, thunder-riven,
And up from the rocky steep,
There rose a cry to the gate of heaven,
“Rejoice, I have found My sheep!”

And the angels sang around the throne,
“Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own!”

Remember the Sabbath to Keep it Holy –

7th day 2The Sabbath: How Do We Know Which Day It Is ?

article originally published in Signs of the Times,
September 22, 2015
written by: Ed Dickerson

I took a tour of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, USA, a while back, and my guide said that “the Declaration of Independence was signed in this room on July 4, 1776.” But he went on to explain that only one part of that statement was true. I love history, so standing merely a metre from where Thomas Jefferson had been seated in Independence Hall filled me with awe, and I thought perhaps I had misunderstood the man’s words. “It was not signed that day,” the guide said. “There was a war going on; they had more important things to deal with.”

On July 2 (and not the fourth), Congress unanimously approved the Declaration of Independence. But the vote was for a much altered document, with multiple passages crossed out, some words added and numerous corrections. It was definitely not suitable for framing or public display. The final draft was presented to Congress on July 4, which they then ratified as correct. On July 19, Congress ordered final “engrossed” copy, that is, one written in a large, clear hand. That’s the one on display at the National Archives, but this final copy wasn’t actually signed until August 2.

Discovering that the signing of the Declaration of Independence didn’t take place on July 4, 1776, got me thinking about dates, days and, being a pastor, the Sabbath.

Do we realize the power of the God (Elohim – Mighty One) we serve?
We have little, because we expect little . . . . Dare to really Believe !

The Work of Faith ?

mountain2     “To HIM that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth (to render, show or regard as innocent, just and righteous) the ungodly, his faith is counted for (as) righteousness.”     Romans 4:5

Salvation is not a thing which we earn by our own good works, but rather it is a free gift from our Father in heaven, through Jesus Christ . . . . and the works of righteousness are but the fruits of the indwelling of His promised Holy Spirit . . .

And this greatest of gifts is given us through faith that He will fulfill that which He has promised !

For it is God Who works in you, both to will, and to do of His good pleasure . . . !” “For Thou also hast wrought all our works in us . . . O LORD our God !”   Philippians 2:13 & Isaiah 26:12

Light Pierces the Enemy’s Shadows of darkness !

Bible -Genesis_1-3Are you filled with sorrow today?

. . . . Do not let faith waver. Fight the good fight of faith, and lay hold on Eternal Life. It will be a severe fight, but fight it at any cost; for the Promises of God are Yea and Amen in Christ Jesus (II Corinthians 1:20)

Put your hand in the hand of Christ. There are difficulties to be overcome, but angels that excel in strength will . . . . scatter the darkness which surrounds you !
Yea, He says,Ask, and ye shall receive . . . !”

For in Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not . . .  !”   John 1:1-5 Continue reading

A Passion for Souls ?

shipwreck 1     “And I sought for a man or woman among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before Me, for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none ?”   Ezekiel 22:30

“And He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor (no one making intercession on behalf of the transgressor), therefore . . . !”   Isaiah 59:16-21

When a ship is wrecked in sight of shore, and the people look on powerless to help, they are shocked and pained beyond measure. They talk of every possible means whereby they might save those who are perishing; and after the ship has gone down, and the lives are lost, they still try to think of some means that might have been successful in saving the perishing. But there is a deadly evil in our land, which is sanctioned by law. Continue reading

Where has the passion gone ?

“This day is Salvation (deliverance, freedom, rescue, healing) come to this house . . . For the Son of Man (Christ Jesus) is come to seek and to save the lost . . . !”   Luke 9-10

Why have so many Christians forgotten the great Comission of the Lord Jesus, to Go into all this world (even your own town and neighborhood) and proclaim the Glad Tidings of Salvation !   Why have so many left that work to the pastors, and evangelists, rather than using every opportunity to share Christ through their own testimonies, as well as Bibles, literature, dvds and media ?

May this preview of “The Way of the Master” series both inspire and convict us to take up that great work of our Lord and Saviour, and may it rekindle a passion in our souls to seek and to save the lost !

Sharing the Water of Life ?

“In all your work remember that you are bound up with Christ,
a part of the great plan of Redemption. The love of Christ, in a healing, Life-giving current, is to flow through your life . . . .

“Therefore with joy shall ye draw Water out of the wells of Salvation . . . . that ye should know how to speak a Word in season to him that is weary !”
Isaiah 12:1-3 & 50:4 Continue reading

The Hiding of Our Father’s Face ?

Hide Thy Face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities . . . !”     Psalm 51:9

The spotless Son of God hung upon the cross, His flesh lacerated with stripes; those hands so often reached out in blessing, nailed to the wooden bars; those feet so tireless on ministries of love, spiked to the tree; that royal head pierced by the crown of thorns; those quivering lips shaped to the cry of woe.

And all that He endured–the blood drops that flowed from His head, His hands, His feet, the agony that racked His frame, and the unutter-able anguish that filled His soul at the hiding of His Father’s face — speaks to each child of humanity, declaring, It is for thee that the Son
of God consents to bear this burden of guilt . . . Continue reading
