“And Thou, O Tower of the flock, the Stronghold of the daughter of Zion . . . unto Thee shall it come, even the first dominion . . . yea, the Kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem !” Micah 4:8
“Study the Scriptures. Know that the only thing in which you can safely glory is that which will open to you the gates of the city of God (the righteousness of Christ – I Corinthians 1:29-31) . . . . Learn from the Word of God how to form characters fitted for the country you are seeking. Know that Christ is to be set forth among you (in your midst) . . . and that all that was lost in Adam the cross of Christ fully restores to every believing soul.

“Therefore . . . being by the right hand of God exalted (Ephesians 1:18-21), and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit . . . . He hath shed forth (gushed out as a fountain, poured forth) this, which ye now see and hear . . .
Then said Peter unto them . . . Repent, and be baptized* (Acts 19:1-8) every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins . . . and ye shall receive the gift* (something given freely out of great love for the receiver) of the Holy Spirit . . . For the Promise is unto you, and to your children . . . and to all that are afar off (yet in the outer court – Ephesians 2:13-14), even as many as the LORD our God shall call . . . !” Acts 2:33-39

Quote – “The church is not now the separate and peculiar people she was when the fires of persecution were kindled against her. How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! I saw that if the church had always retained her peculiar, holy character, the power of the Holy Spirit which was imparted to the disciples would still be with her. The sick would be healed, devils would be rebuked and cast out, and she would be mighty and a terror to her enemies.” – Early Writings, p.227
note: the character and righteousness (innocence, holiness and perfection) of Christ Jesus is freely ours, if we will through surrender and living (active) faith appropriate it as our very own ! Continue reading

– “Is Genesis history?” Though it shouldn’t be, this is a controversial question today, even in the church. It’s becoming increasingly popular to claim that Genesis is figurative, poetry, or simply myth. Yet it’s evident to anyone reading the Genesis text that it was written to be read as straightforward history. Does science confirm the history in Genesis?

“For this they willingly are ignorant of . . . . that by the Word of God, the heavens were created of old (Psalm 33:6-9), and the earth standing out of the water, and in the water. Whereby the world that then was . . . being overflowed with water perished.
And the heavens and the earth which are now, by that same Word (John 1:1-5) are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition (destruction) of ungodly men . . . !” II Peter 3:1-14
“O Israel, . . . thou hast destroyed thyself, but in Me is thine help. I will be thy King, for where is any other that may save thee in all of thy cities . . . ?” Hosea 13:9-14
“Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel . . . be glad and rejoice with all thy heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. For the LORD (Jehovah, Yehuwah) hath taken away thy judgments* (Galatians 3:13, Deuteronomy 28:15-47), He hath cast out thine enemy . . . . Yea, the King of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst (heart) of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more . . .
In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem . . . My city and My people which are called by My name (Daniel 9:19) . . . Fear thou not ___________ (your name), and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack. For the LORD thy God (Elohim) in the midst of thee is Mighty* (full of power, a Warrior, valiant and strong); He will SAVE !
He will rejoice over thee __________ (your name) with joy; He will rest (engrave) in His love, He will joy over thee with singing . . . !” Zephaniah 3:14-17, I Peter 2:5-9 and Ephesians 2:10 Continue reading
“Believe that Jesus meets with you (and dwells within you . . . because He has promised); believe that He is willing to bless you. Turn the eye away from self (your own weakness). Look unto Jesus, talk of His matchless love. By beholding Him you will become changed into His likeness. When you pray, be brief, come right to the point. Do not preach the Lord a sermon in your long prayers. Ask for the Bread of Life (His Spirit-filled promises – John 6:27-50) as a hungry child asks bread of his earthly father. God will bestow upon us every needed blessing if we ask Him in simplicity and faith.”
– Counsels to the Church, p.294
“True faith lays hold of and claims the promised Blessing before it is realized and felt. We must send up our petitions in faith within the second veil and let our faith take hold of the promised blessing and claim it as ours (Galatians 3:14). We are then to believe that we receive the blessing, because our faith has hold of it, and according to the Word it is ours. “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them !”
Mark 11:24 and Hebrews 11:1-6
Here is faith, naked faith, to believe that we receive the blessing (the promise spoken), even before we realize it. When the promised blessing is realized and enjoyed, faith is swallowed up. But many suppose they have much faith when sharing largely of the Holy Spirit and that they cannot have faith unless they feel the power of the Spirit. Such confound faith with the blessing that comes through faith. The very time to exercise faith is when we feel destitute of the Spirit.
When thick clouds of darkness seem to hover over the mind, then is the time to let living (active) faith pierce the darkness and scatter the clouds. True faith rests on the promises contained in the Word of God, and those only who obey that Word can claim its glorious promises. “If ye abide in Me, and My Words . . . which are Spirit and Life . . . abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you !” John 15:7 and 6:63.
“Whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.” 1 John 3:22. We should be much in secret prayer. Christ is the Vine, ye (we) are the branches. And if we would grow and flourish, we must continually draw sap and nourishment from the Living Vine (John 15:1-7); for separated from the Vine we have no strength !
I asked the angel why there was no more faith and power in Israel. He said, “Ye let go of the arm of the Lord too soon. Press your petitions to the throne, and hold on by strong faith (Matthew 11:12 and Luke 18:3-8). The promises are sure. Believe ye receive the things ye ask for, and ye shall have them.” Mark 11:24
I was then pointed to Elijah. He was subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly. His faith endured the trial. Seven times he prayed before the LORD, and at last the cloud was seen. I saw that we had doubted the sure promises, and wounded the Saviour by our lack of faith. Said the angel, “Gird the armor about thee, and above all take the shield of faith; for that will guard the heart, the very life, from the fiery darts (lies – John 8:44) of the wicked.”
If the enemy can lead the desponding to take their eyes off from Jesus, and look to themselves, and dwell upon their own unworthiness, instead of dwelling upon the worthiness (merits, righteousness) of Jesus as our Substitute and Surety, His love, His merits, and His great mercy, he will get away their shield of faith and gain his object; they will be exposed to his fiery temptations. The weak should therefore look to Jesus, and believe in Him (the Word of Almighty God); they then exercise (step forward, and walk out in) faith . . .”
