The Origins of Easter ?

easter eggs 2A powerful article from Amazing Discoveries –

Easter is known for its bunny rabbits, colored eggs, hot cross buns, and the return of springtime. But where did Easter come from?

Few people realize that Easter is not about the resurrection of Christ. The only time the word “Easter” is found in the Bible (Acts 12:4), it is there by mistranslation. The word in the original Greek is “Passover.” Jesus died at the time of the Passover feast, but the Passover is not Easter and Jesus did not die at Easter time. Easter is an ancient spring festival. Long before the time of Christ, the pagan goddess Ishtar, or sometimes known as Astarte or Ashtoreth, was worshiped in different countries. Our modern practice of sunrise worship originates from the pagan festival honoring Ishtar. The story of Easter also helps explain how Sunday became sacred and the origin of virgin worship. Begotten Again ? – sons and daughters of the Living God

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord (Sovereign King) Jesus Christ . . . . which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively (Living) hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead . . .” I Peter 1:3

And Jesus says to you and I, Marvel not that I say unto thee, Ye must be born (begotten again) . . . . For except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God !” John 3:7, 3

This is the very essence of the Gospel, the condition upon which all our Salvation (deliverance, freedom and healing) and Redemption hangs. And it is this greatest of Promises, which our Lord and Saviour desires each of us to understand and to know personally by experience. . . . that we might become truly “sons and daughters” of the Most High !      ref: II Corinthians 6:14-18

Preach the Word . . . !

Bread of Life1     “And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, no so much as about the door . . . . And He (Jesus, Yehushua) proclaimed the Word unto them !”   Mark 2:1-12

And they were astonished at His teaching, for His Word was with power . . . !”   Luke 4:32 & I Thessalonians 2:13

“To my ministering brethren I would say, Preach the Word. Do not bring to the foundation wood, hay, and stubble,–your own surmisings and speculations, which can benefit no one. Subjects of vital importance are revealed in the Word of God, and these are worthy of our deepest thought. But we are not to search into matters on which God has been silent . . . .

When questions arise upon which we are uncertain, let us ask, What saith the Scripture? Continue reading

God Provides 2    “Yea, they spake against God (Elohim) . . . and they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness ? . . . Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in His Salvation (H3444 – Yesh-oo-aw’) . . . !”
Psalm 78:19 & 22

“Give ear, O My people to My law: incline your ears to the Words of My mouth . . . for the Words that I speak they are Spirit, and they are Life ! . . . I will open My mouth in a parable . . . which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from our children, shewing to the generation to come the Praises of the LORD (Jehovah, Yehuwah), and His Strength, and His wonderful works that He hath done . . . !”   Psalm 78:1-4 & John 6:63

“Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition upon whom the ends of the world are come . . . !”     I Corinthians 10:1-11 Continue reading

Free-Christian-Wallpaper-John-1-4-678x508  Christ Uplifted !

“And I brethren, when I came to you, I came not with excellency of speech or wisdom, declaring unto you the Testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you, save (except) Jesus Christ, and Him crucified . . . !”
I Corinthians 2:1-2

“The science of Redemption is the science of all sciences; the science that is the study of the angels, and of all the intelligences of the unfallen worlds; the science that engages the attention of our Lord and Saviour; the science that enters into the purpose brooded in the Mind of the Infinite –“kept in silence through times eternal;” the science that will be the study of God’s redeemed throughout the endless ages. This is the highest study in which it is possible for man to engage. As no other study can, it will quicken (renew Life to) the mind, and uplift the soul . . . !”       – Maranatha  p.365 Continue reading
